Mathlab User Seminar ******************** "Higher End Visualization" ************************** Wed., Sept. 13, 4:45 - 5:45, Stimson 206 ABSTRACT ******** The presentation will survey some of the visualization tools available in the lab and on the Department systems. Prominent among these will be Geomview, the mathematical visualization program developed by the Geometry Center at UMN. Geomview runs best on the lab Indigo 2, but is also present as an X program on math. Strategies for preparing files for geomview will be discussed, including: 1) Direct Generation. 2) Maple to OOGL. 3) Constuctions with Geomview Modules. 4) External Geomview-saavy programs such as Qhull and DsTool. Attendees will be able to generate their own geomview files and try them out. Geomview support for animation, printing, non-euclidean geometry, etc. will be reviewed. Other visualization tools including Xv, ImageMagick, Showcase, Lafite, Gnuplot, Tritile, and Ghostview will also be indicated.
