Mathlab Math 434 Support Page
The lab consists primarily of dual booting Windows 2000/Linux
Pentium 4 machines. There are also 4 old Macs.

Programs to support Math 434 in the lab include:
- Gap
- is installed on the Windows side of all Pentium 4 machines
(a gap icon on the desktop) and on the linux side of all but
one (aral) Pentium 4 linux machine.
- Maple
- is installed on all Windows and linux machines
with support notes at http://www.mathlab.cornell.edu/support/maple.html.
- Mathematica
- is installed right now on two machines; the linux side of indian and
the Windows 2000 side of tahoe.
Consultants do
vary in their mathematical backgrounds, so some will not be familiar
with the underlying mathematics here. At most times when the lab is
open, even consultants not familiar with algebra at the level of your course
have ready
access to immediate support by telephone, so please don't hesitate to
ask questions when you have them.
